Icy Rain-Winter Storm in effect @ Dallas

It actually started yesterday but the ice didn’t form fast enough on the road to spread some sand. Today most of the counties in Texas have icy roads.  My wife went to walmart yesterday to do some grocieries and she said a lot of people are panic buying due to the news announcement that there might be some power outages and slippery road. Compared to the northeast where they usually get snow, down here at texas we get ice and everytime there’s ice most of the people tend to stay indoor and only drive when necessary. friscofreeze2.jpg
The bad part of driving with this icy weather is that you don’t have traction on the tires. But the worst part if the stupid drivers that speeds up on bridges where ice are more likely to form and ends up hitting the slow moving cautious drivers. The thing is some people don’t know how to drive in this kind of weather condition. They are so impatient following the slow moving vehicles and they try to go around them and then hit thier stupid brakes which results to skidding. tsk..tsk..

The day NYC smells like Utot!

Temperature drop from 74F today to 33F tomorrow!

U.S. returns to standard time on Sunday

Associated Press

Autumn’s chill is in the air, and little ghosts and goblins are preparing to play trick-or-treat. It must be time to set the clocks back. Officially we will fall back to standard time at 2 a.m. Sunday, though most folks will change their clocks Saturday night.

This is the last time the change will come in October. Thanks to a law passed last year, daylight-saving time will start earlier and end later beginning in 2007. It will last from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November.

Some states and territories don’t observe daylight-saving time and won’t have to worry about changing their clocks. Those are Arizona, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam and the Northern Marianas.

Daylight-saving time returns next March 11.

Thieves target fallen officer’s grave

09:33 AM CDT on Thursday, September 21, 2006

By CHRIS HAWES / WFAA-TV

FORT WORTH — Officers are searching for thieves that targeted the grave of fallen Fort Worth Officer H.N. “Hank” Nava, who died in the line of duty in November, 2005.

Officer Nava died at the age of 39 after he was shot in the head while serving a warrant.

In July, two valuable vases were placed next to Officer Nava’s memorial marker at his grave. However, the next day, his widow found that the vases were missing.

She reported the crime and then replaced the vases; but once again, one of the vases was stolen.

The Fort Worth Police Department said the incident is being investigated, but said they had few leads to follow.

No other crimes were reported at the cemetery within the three month period the vases were reported stolen.
