Rain, Sleet, Icy Road

Ngayon as of 11:45am 27F na dito sa lugar namin and it’s still dropping.

DirecTV 4 School Marketing & Box Top 4 Education

As I open up my kids’ latest 6-weeks report card i saw an envelope from DT. DT has a new marketing strategy that when you signup or renew with them they will donate $100 to your child’s school. Pretty good. Imagine if a lot of families gather and signup for DT service? That’s thousands of dollars for your kids school!  This is what I learned back in my college years how the business should operate. One of the factors in doing business with the community is what help can it give to the people it serves. What can they give back in return aside from the instant gratification of watching your favorite shows.

I know that some companies has long started a campaign like this. Take for example General Mills Box Tops 4 Education campaign. America’s School have earned over 175 million in 10 years! The way their campaign work is that from your everyday activities like : buying groceries, shopping online and making purchases with a credit card you earned points for your school by collecting those box top points from  hundreds of participating brands.

Ok..ok..and ended up plugging those campaigns now..anyways, it’s actually nice to see that some system works out.

Temperature drop from 74F today to 33F tomorrow!

A POWERFUL UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE AND ARCTIC COLD FRONT WILL MOVE ACROSS NORTH TEXAS WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTO THURSDAY. A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT SNOW… SLEET…OR ICE ACCUMULATIONS THAT MAY IMPACT TRAVEL. RESIDENTS OF NORTH TEXAS SHOULD CLOSELY MONITOR THIS WEATHER SITUATION. WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES OR WINTER STORM WARNINGS MAY BE REQUIRED LATER TODAY.

Thanksgiving holiday came to an end.

Four day weekend is over and tomorrow balik-trabaho na ulit.

Hindi kamukha last year na may concept ako kaso materials unavailable.  Had to resort with the strings tie ups pero ngayon may kamatis trellis pang nakakabit.  Lok-bu lang ang digicam ko kaya it won’t do justice to take a picture with it.

ATI Radeon 9200 video card

Installed the video card that Ona gave me couple of months ago. I also managed to add an extra memory module. Had to compromise with the other 256 mem. Module cuz’ I only have 2 slots available. I’ll probably end up giving the 256 to Ai-kun to up her mem into at least around 512.

ie 7 problem fix

I think the problem has been solved! I just had to disable the anti-virus and then installed the ie7 then reinstalled the anti-virus back. So far its working but we’ll know for sure by tomorrow if that fix really works. Cross-fingers!

Internet Explorer 7 update fiasco

I tried to upgrade my IE yesterday and since then I have been getting all kinds of stupid crap kind of errors. My desktop icons blinks and none of the screen stays open except explorer-envoke programs. I did some system restore all the way to 3 weeks before but still no avail. Now i can only work with the browser and in still searching for the common cure.

Happy Turkeyday to all!

thanksgiving.JPGHappy Thanksgiving to all!

Sayang.

Site content migration coming slow but sure(?)

Did a lot of things on the new site structure. The Images page is done and wrapped with the Joomla interface. Had to use a different template just for that particular page. come to think of it, that images page actually looks better than the regular pages. I just can’t make up my mind right now which template I should stick to. Kung pwede nga lang lahat na! But I’ll go with the voting poll. Crap..then I have to set that up too. Also i feel uneasy about my webhost PHP setting. Maybe I’ll forward my domain to another host that’s more accomodating with the required security features that my new website platform is asking for.
Also, there’s the issue about screen resolution. I wonder how many surfers out there are still using the 800 screen resolution? I have my setting to the highest possible resolution. Dito sa bahay i had it set for 1280 x 1024. I’m also thinking of modifying the CSS to at least 1024 pixels wide. I feel so cramped with the current 800 resolution. But if we have to stay compatible across the board I guess I have to stick with it…for the meantime!

Coppermine PG re-installed (3x) & now working!!!

Yeehheeeyy!! Part 2!! Maybe it when I installed Gallery it also installed some critical files that Coppermine is looking for. I think one of the files it need is that ImageMagick for producing thumbnails. See…when I’m browsing around Gallery it looks just like a regular photo album compared to Coopermine I thought that Gallery is just a regular photo album but looking deeper they have some themes that you can configure to make your Gallery show the way you like it. In regards to Coppermine, I like the category features of Coopermine. Right now I have been ftp’ing the files into the server then I’ll sort them out into whatever category that I need to create. When I first installed CPG it chokes whenever I do a browser upload. It gives me an server error 500. That’s why I had to call NetSols service rep. Also when I do a batch add ins the thumbnails doesn’t show on some of the pics. I’m still in the dark what happened but I’m just glad that it’s working.

Please Register in my Zeenanoko Photo Gallery!

Now..if only i can get that Joomla to stop reporting that error…
